Malo lava Family,
How is your lungworms? Mine are quite well, thank you for asking. I saw squealy the squash yesterday. He says to say hello. He is doing very well with himself. A fine young lad he's turning out to be.
But yeah, this week was good. We had our second baptism on Saturday. That was sweet. The girl's name is Ulia, she's dope. So that was cool. I got to do the ordinance as well on this one. My problem is that I don't know anyone's last names cause no one ever uses them. Everyone calls everyone else by their first names, even the kids when they're talking to their parents. So when I got into the font, I realized I didn't know her last name, which was dumb, cause that's the same thing that happened at my first baptism. But once we got everything sorted out, I tossed her into the water there, and there you have it. So it was good. We had ice cream after. The Samoan ice cream is really good. But we were trying to get her mom and her grandparents to come to the baptism but they didn't show. Her grandpa's a member but he has a smoking problem. But he's a good guy. And her grandma doesn't want to have anything to do with us. But yeah, it's all good. We'll keep making visits and stuff. That's all we can do. But not much else happened this week other than the baptism, just kind of a regular week.
On Saturday morning I got to watch the family next door roast up one of their pigs. It was sweet. This old dude shot it in the head, and then this other dude took it over and used a machete to scrape off all the hair. And then they cut a hole in its belly and this dude just started pulling out all it's guts with his bare hands! It was dope. And then after they pulled all the guts out, they filled it full of banana leaves and roasted it in this little oven made of hot rocks and leaves and stuff. It was sweet though. I was stoked.
But yeah, I got your Christmas cards--Keth, Meth, Sketty, and Chin (Katie, Matt, Scott & Jen). Thanks a bumload! When I was opening the letters and I looked at Scott and Jen's pictures with the mustaches, one of the elders in my zone leans over and goes, "That kid's gonna be a ladies man." Haha, but he was talking about Gracie. Don't take it personal though--I was in the MTC with the elder --he's just strange.
But we don't really have districts here in Samoa, we just have zones. There are only 8 people in my zone, including the ZL's. The ZL's are ranjoes to the max. They just sit at their house and watch movies and stuff. But whatever--that's not my problem. Practically all the elders in the mission are freakin disobedient as heck. It's really rare to actually find a good elder in this mission. But there are good kids though, no doubt.
But yeah, I got your Christmas cards, thanks. They were OFF THE CHAIN!!!! I got one from my good friend Justin Tuckett as well. He's serving in the Lubbock Texas mission. Turns out that Thomas is his District Leader. SO that's cool. I'm sure they have plenty of wild things to talk about.
But yeah, not a whole lot happened this week really. Last night was a super gnarly rainstorm, and my window's broken so every once in a while the wind would change direction and rain would just start coming in on to my bed. SO that was a real neat experience.
But yeah, Samoa's dope. Everything's goin' good for sure. The language is still tough. I still don't understand a lot. But it's coming along, no worries. Hopefully by the end of this transfer I'll be speaking good Samoan. My MTC intake is on this brand new program that just started for all missionaries. So I'll be in this companionship for 12 weeks and by the end of the 12 week program ideally I'm supposed to then become a trainer myself. But I don't know if that'll happen, just cause I don't know Samoan that well. But I'm progressing for sure. I understand a lot more than I can speak. That's my problem. I just need to speak more. It's hard to measure your progress. I'm sure I'm getting better. But I still feel like I don't understand hardly anything. It's cool though, no worries. Oh yeah, if anyone reads this letter, please send me Wyatt's mission address. And Jason Anderson too. That would be lovely. Just get on Facebook or something, I'm sure you guys can think of something. So hum hum, yup. All is goin' good here. I'm doing good 4 sure. Anyways, good luck, keep it steezy.
Your Friend, (oh yeah, you don't say "love ya mucho, mucho, mucho" Mom. You could say "Alofa atu tele lava")
